A documentary-fiction film project by Bruno Moll

LOGLINE

The actress Rosa Stoffel plays a leading role in a TV series that tells the story of a dramatic family saga set against the backdrop of the ‘Walser migrations’ in the 14th century. To prepare for the role, she is exploring some of the areas that were settled by the Walsers.

BRIEF PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Walser, a community shrouded in legends and myths, set out from the Upper Valais in the mid-12th century to settle higher-altitude regions across almost the entire Alpine region. Actress Rosa Stoffel has been cast in a leading role in a TV series that tells the story of a dramatic family saga set against the backdrop of the ‘Walser migrations’ in the 14th century. To prepare for her role, she explores some of the areas settled by the Walser people in her camper van. During her journey, she learns that she may herself be a descendant of the Walser. Her search for her character increasingly merges with the quest for her roots and the associated question of the deeper meaning of identity.

MARULA – A feature film by Rolf Steiner

script development

Synopsis

Marula tells the story of a family whose members are caught between the past, present and future. Central themes include poaching, loss, guilt, heritage and reconciliation. The plot combines African reality with personal family stories: Craig McKenzie fights poaching, Liz struggles with her broken past, her daughter Carla seeks stability between her job and family, and grandson Luca unwittingly brings old wounds back to the surface. On a safari trip to Rhulani Safari Lodge, the past and present collide. In particular, the encounter with the brothers Bakang and Tebogo – young poachers driven by poverty – and the revelations about Andreas Baumgartner, an old acquaintance of Liz’s, raise questions about responsibility and the future. In the end, it is the children who embody hope and the possibility of healing.

Synopsis

Unser Abschied von der Erde -‐ hinein in den Weltraum

Agreed climate targets are not being met, the world is becoming increasingly inhospitable, and heat, floods, crop failures, species extinction and dwindling resources are making it increasingly difficult for humanity to survive. According to the prediction of astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who died in 2018, humanity has only 100 years left to leave Earth behind and find a new home in space. People will have to make a new start here – under completely different conditions. – My documentary film shows the frantic countdown as scientists, companies and private individuals attempt to prepare a mission to settle humans on a foreign planet. – How do we get there? How can we possibly survive there? How will humans settle in space, on the Moon or Mars? And what necessities must be in place for future generations to exist in space at all? Can this – seemingly our only chance – succeed at all?
