Jean Mauboulès

Jean Mauboulès lived in Paris from 1962, where he studied architecture and took courses at the École des Beaux-Arts. In 1966, he lived in Bern for six months and took up permanent residence there two years later. During the 1960s, he switched from painting to sculpture and object art. He chose glass as his preferred material for his two- and three-dimensional works. In 1973, Mauboulès moved with his family to Solothurn. At the invitation of the Centro Internationale di Sperimentazioni Artistiche M. L. Jeanneret, he worked in Boissano from 1975 to 1976.
Jean Mauboulès received the Canton of Solothurn’s Specialist Award in 1987 and the Canton of Solothurn’s Art Award in 1996. In 1997, he was appointed Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture.
