The roots of this fabric lie in the brigand movement that originated in the Molise-Abruzzo region at the turn of the century as a result of peasant uprisings. Over time, the Brisanten specialised in elaborate kidnappings with ransom demands, whereby the kidnapped person was not allowed to notice anything about their abduction. The unlikely lovers Michele, the son of southern Italian immigrants, and Yvonne, the daughter of a newly wealthy Swiss family, unexpectedly fall into the trap set by the Bellinvitu kidnappers and become victims of a beautiful invitation: in the wild Majella mountains, both are held captive in a sinister manner, while in the north, their parents are blackmailed for ransom. The film playfully explores the two different cultural mentalities of the protagonists: the mentality of the north and the mentality of the south. Despite irreconcilable differences, a new, shared path is ultimately possible where north meets south. Swiss Films 1992
